The luchterhandt & partner office has implemented the complete process support for the construction site 97 in Baakenhafen, on which rental and owner-occupied flats in various sizes are being built for a mixed population of all age groups, taking into account individual lifestyles, including the Heimatmole, from the acquisition of land, the composition of the applicant consortium to the implementation of the building construction competitions. Kiezkompanie supported the Heimatmole building consortium as construction supervisor until completion.

What surprised you about the collaboration with zillerplus on the Heimatmole project?

As a process supervisor, I have a neutral role in which the best result for the respective constellation takes centre stage. I was surprised by several aspects of the planning and construction process for Heimatmole:

Firstly, the presence of the zillerplus office, even over the distance between Hamburg and Munich, but also the speed and professionalism in dealing with the issues, with a clear allocation of responsibilities and a tight organisation. Constructive suggestions were made when personal interests were tricky to weigh up in the design, without losing one's own stance. This creates a collegial atmosphere in all phases.

Joint learning is an important aspect of the dialogue orientation of our planning process. It is out of place and downright arrogant to tell the other person how they should live.

The zillerplus way of working is first about listening and realising the needs of the other side. And then perhaps to have suggestions as to how some supposed circumstances can be changed. This requires composure, but also an enormous amount of knowledge and commitment and the courage to deal with the issues of the day, especially in the housing sector.

It's good to be a team player - and to get people excited about your topics. For me, that's what zillerplus stands for.

‘Moving cities’ is the motivation for our work. büro luchterhandt & partner advocates the sustainable development of our cities and communities, aims to inspire and encourage critical dialogue in planning and building culture. We plan and design spaces for people, coordinate competitions, concept awards and traditional award procedures with a great deal of passion for the high-quality realisation of building projects. Kiezkompanie was founded to support building cooperatives from brainstorming to moving in. Because we know from our own experience the challenges, opportunities - but also the fears. We know that building can be fun, and even more so in a good community!
