What innovative floor plan solutions can subsidised housing use to respond to social changes and rising housing costs? These and other questions were addressed in the ideas competition ‘Innovative Floor Plans for Subsidised Housing’.

Last year, Michael Ziller was invited to be a specialist judge in this ideas competition organised by the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg, Department of Urban Development and Housing. The results of the competition have now been published in a comprehensive publication. This floor plan atlas clearly illustrates the range of designs submitted by all 42 planning teams.

The competition and the documentation are an important building block for further thinking about affordable housing and show how important professional commitment is. You can find the document containing all the teams' plans here.
