The roof – accessible to all residents of Heimatmole – is a versatile oasis. It is not just a terrace but also a meeting point, a place to relax, a viewing platform and a garden all in one. Cosy lounge areas are located in the centre. Garden furniture can be freely arranged here according to need. The edge of the roof is surrounded by evergreen plants, forming a frame for the space.

Flower beds and vegetable patches alternate

Three different types of flowerbeds create a varied appearance. A mixture of perennials such as lavender and spurge adds blue and lemon-yellow blooms to the flowerbeds. Daylilies and tickseeds bring yellow and orange accents to the other beds. Grasses are scattered throughout the beds, playing with the wind and providing a robust structure in winter.

The third bed is left to the residents themselves. Herbs, vegetables, berries and much more can be planted here. Irrigation can be done through underground drip hoses, while small water reservoirs beneath the planting substrates retain moisture in the soil.
