At the beginning of July, we handed over 45 new apartments in the extension of the cooperative block to the tenants. The prefabricated timber element construction method enabled resource-saving, low-emission and rapid implementation. This meant that the existing buildings could remain inhabited throughout the entire construction period. The outdoor facilities in the large inner courtyards are currently being redesigned and the energy-efficient renovation of the remaining existing façades is being pushed forward.

The inner-city redensification and redevelopment of the Yellow Block utilises existing infrastructure while creating urgently needed urban living space. The transformation of existing buildings not only conserves resources but also preserves the established urban context. The Yellow Block is more than just a construction project: it shows how we can build on what already exists – for liveable neighbourhoods and sustainable urban development.
