Construction site update – Yellow Block in Munich's Westend

The urban redensification of the co-operative apartment block continues!

The prefabricated elements in modular timber construction allow the two additional storeys with 45 new flats to be built quickly:

the flats have been gradually being occupied since November last year
in the first quarter of 2025, we were able to hand over another ten new flats
the additional storeys will be fully occupied by June

At the same time, the 169 existing flats are being refurbished during ongoing operations:

new lifts and balconies on the existing floors will increase the quality of living
energy-efficient refurbishment of the existing façade
new communal areas will also be created: a former shop unit on Georg-Freundorfer-Platz will be converted into a neighbourhood meeting place

We had the opportunity to interview the client's representative Thomas Schimmel, CEO of Wohnungsgenossenschaft München-West eG, about the current project:
